Sentinel gewinnt „The Real Deal“-Soundclash in Trinidad!
Sentinel Sound from Stuttgart, Germany has won the „Real Deal Returns“ Soundclash on Friday, July 16th 2010 in Port of Spain in Trinidad and Tobago against Tek 9 from New York City and X-Caliber from Trinidad. It was not an easy walkthrough for MC Shotta Paul and DJ Meska, who had to win the crowd's sympathy with their very good performance.
The first two rounds went despite an impressive performance with fitting speeches and many counteractions by the „German Luger“-Sound to X-Caliber, respectively Tek 9. The third round required to only play dubplates by reggae-singers, meaning no Bounty Killer, Vybz Kartel, Sizzla or other „Deejays“could be played. Sentinel displayed their vast catalogue of classic tunes in a flawless juggling connected with speeches to the point and were voted winners of the round. The fourth round was again won by Tek 9, who juggled a set of Bounty Killer Dubs and had the crowd going. Sentinel had before played a Bounty Killer-Dub, where the artist himself states: „You can’t kill Sentinel even if you had a million and one Bounty“, but it had not connected to the crowd at that time.
The host Umbie from Matsimela Sound and his Co-host were not fully aware of the rules, when they announced a tie before the finals between Sentinel and X-Caliber. Dawg E. Slaughter from X-Caliber cleared up the fact that the vocal round had been awarded one point more than the other rounds and therefore Sentinel was to go to the finals.
The Europeans quickly swang the Tune Fi Tune to their side, leading 5:1 points after a short while. Tek 9 then caught up to 5:3, but when the owner, who had travelled from New York for the event, told the crowd that they were fascinated by white people, he could be happy that only boos rained down on him. Sentinel won another international trophy and is still the top-Sound from Europe, that can deal with any sound in any situation. The „Everlasting Sound“ has made another mark on the international soundclash map.
